Semi-silicate brick is an aluminosilicate refractory product containing alumina (Al2O3) 15-30% and is a semi-acid refractory brick. Fire clay is usually used as the raw material for semi-silica bricks., containing quartz sand, pyrophyllite, refractory clay or kaolin enrichment waste. Semi-silica brick shrinks less during firing, since at 1250°C the quartz of the raw material turns into cristobalite, and the volume expands, which partially compensates for shrinkage, occurring during clay sintering. The manufacturing process of semi-silica brick can be divided into two types: fired and unfired. The production process of fired bricks is basically the same, like clay brick; Unfired brick is mainly made of liquid glass as a binder.
