Types and Applications of Low Cement Castings

Refractory casting material is a refractory mixture, consisting of fire-resistant filler, binder and additives. This article mainly introduces the application types of low cement castings and ultra-low cement castings. Low cement and ultra low cement castings can be used for rotary kiln alignment for various heat treatment furnaces, such as heating and impregnation furnaces.

Types of castings with low cement content

Low cement castings are available in a variety of materials, such as clay, high aluminum content alumina, mullite, corundum, chromocorundum, zirconium mullite, zirconium corundum, zirconium spinel, as well as carbon and carbon-containing silicon, classified according to their characteristics, can also be divided into vibrating castings and gravity castings.

Composition of two refractory castings

• The ingredients of vibrocast refractory products are as follows:: fireproof aggregate 60-70%, fireproof powder 18%-22%, calcium silicate cement 3%-7% (low cement content) or calcium silicate cement 1%-2% (with ultra-low cement content), silica powder 3%-6%, microdisperser
• The ratio of the gravity-flow mixture with low cement content is similar to that for vibratory casting, except that, that the particle size and differential content are different. The difference content is usually 5-6%, and at the same time a highly effective dispersant is used.

Application of castings with low cement content

Low cement content casting can be used in industrial furnaces, such as metallurgy, petrochemicals, mechanical engineering, electric power industry and production of building materials. Low cement content vibrating castings are mainly used in heating furnaces, various heat treatment ovens, electric furnace covers, shaft kilns and rotary kilns. Exhaust chute lining, ladles and ladle molds for kilns and blast furnaces.
Gravity castings are mainly used for thin linings and linings of high temperature refractory parts with metal anchors, such as outer linings of water-cooled pipes for heating furnaces, professional immersion pipe linings for RH and DH vacuum degassing, as well as components for supplying gas to the ladle.
